Le Caillau is beautifully situated in the heart of the Cahors vineyards and our luxury two-bedroom apartment makes the perfect holiday base, combining the history and charm of a 300-year-old wine domaine with high quality modern fittings and contemporary style. The apartment has its own entrance, two private terraces and a large garden with heated swimming pool. Stone tiles cover the floor, and the decor is tasteful and muted. Our Café & Boutique are all on your doorstep if self-catering becomes a chore.

The fully-fitted kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave, washing machine and double doors lead out onto a shady terrace. The living room has a TV with internet connection to Netflix, Prime and other streaming services. The dining area has a fireplace with a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has a large bath and walk-in shower, with a separate toilet to the side. The spacious ground-floor main bedroom has a kingsize bed fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets, and double doors open onto a west-facing terrace with views over the vines. Upstairs is a smaller bedroom, carefully renovated to leave the original beams intact. The apartment has air-conditioning and heating. Outside you’ll find our large private garden with a heated pool with hidden electric security cover, 4 person jacuzzi, and trampoline for the kids.

Facilities and services


You’ll find all the basics, such as olive oil, salt and pepper, dishwasher tablets and cleaning materials in the apartment at Le Caillau, as well as milk, butter, cheeses, ham, bread and fruit, plus a complimentary bottle of Le Caillau wine. 

In our Café & Boutique you’ll find freshly baked cakes and small plates, as well as our menu which can be eaten in the café or in the privacy of the gite. We can also deliver breakfast to your door, just ask for the menu. 

Kids

Le Caillau welcomes families and we aim to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable for everyone. We can provide you with a wooden cot, a baby monitor, stair gates, a bed guard, a single or double buggy, a changing mat, a high chair, childrens plates, cups and cutlery, toys & books. If you need anything else just ask and we’ll be happy to help. Our private, heated swimming pool has an electric security cover making sure little ones stay safe.

Welcome packs aren’t just for adults! On arrival, your kids will receive their own welcome back-pack, including colouring pens/crayons, a scrap book to keep them entertained on holiday. Pottery painting in our atelier is the perfect activity for creative kids and provides the ideal holiday memento. Sit back and relax with a coffee, tea or glass of wine while the kids paint.

Food and Drink


Our aim is to provide you with great food and drink in our café when you want it. Enjoy fresh bread and croissants for breakfast, and our menu for lunch.

When you are here

Puy L’Eveque, a beautiful medieval village with meandering back streets and a lovely river, is just five minutes drive away. It has a supermarket, boulangerie, boucherie, restaurants, doctors, chemist and bank. Prayssac, at 10 minutes drive away, has a local produce market every Friday morning, and cafés, restaurants and shops. A 15 minute walk or short bike ride through the vineyards brings you to Vire-sur-Lot. It has a post office which opens on week-day afternoons and a chocolaterie with tempting treats, and just across the river is a campsite with a shop where you can buy basics such as bread and milk. The campsite restaurant, with a small play area, opens in the summer and serves pizzas, burgers and chips.

The Lot has something for everyone, all year round. During the day there are outdoor activites such as canoeing and swimming in the local sandy beach lakes, horse riding, boat rides along the river. There are many local markets and wine domaines to visit. There are also historical monuments such as Chateau de Bonaguil, the Gouffre de Padirac caves, the Monkey Park at Rocamadour, or the Grammat Animal Park, all of which are worth a look. And summer evenings are full of music in the local produce markets.

Celebrating steaks this Wednesday, Thursday and Fr Celebrating steaks this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening at Le Caillau!

In the evenings only this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (27, 28, 29 March) we’ll have three new steaks on the menu, served with a choice of sauces and sides. The meat is locally sourced from the Lot, Tarn et Garonne and Aveyron departments and carries the Saveur Occitane and Bleu Blanc Coeur certificates assuring best practices of rearing and feeding cattle.

We will have fillet, entrecôte and rump, all served with a choice of fresh, delicious sauces and our Le Caillau hand cut chips or gratin dauphinois.
