Surrounded by some of the best Cahors vines, Le Caillau is a wonderfully tranquil place to eat and drink, either in our cosy restored wine chai or outside in our sunny enclosed courtyard.

Food and Wine

Fresh food is our mantra. We have created an original menu based on the finest local ingredients, inspired by what is in season and with influences from around the world. We grow a variety of organic vegetables, herbs and fruit in our kitchen garden, and pick them fresh on the day.

Wine list

Our wine list is heavily based on Cahors. And rightly so. With a selection of robust and flavoursome reds and refreshing rosés and whites, we stock wines which complement our menu perfectly.

Selecting great quality wines to accompany our food was easy – if we can see it, we stock it. Most of our wine is grown from vines you can see from our land (ok, some are from a few kilometres away and you’d need a telescope).

We’ve a range of award-winning Cahors AOC reds like Clos Triguedina, Clos la Coutale and Chateau de Gaudou as well as some lesser known but equally wonderful wines from smaller vineyards such as Clos d’un jour, Cosse Maisonneuve and Chateau de la Gineste.

The Kitchen Garden and local produce

In the spring months our asparagus bed comes to life, as well as the broad beans. Throughout the summer we grow several varieties of tomatoes, chillies, salad leaves, herbs, garlic, baby carrots and beetroot. Into autumn leeks are coming through as well as our purple and green curly kale and the versatile Swiss chard.

We also have a selection of fruit trees and bushes, raspberries, apples, yellow plums, cherries, damsons and walnuts. We also grow some edible flowers that you’ll find on various dishes throughout the summer.

Waste not want not! When we have a glut of produce, it’s the perfect time to start with the pickling and preserving. We then use these on our menu throughout the year.
